The new round of government benefit payments that will be arriving in Canadians’ accounts in April is almost approaching. Several government payments from Service Canada and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) are set to roll out in April 2025, whether you are already budgeting for your summer costs or are simply attempting to stay on track. These federal benefits may have a significant impact, particularly given that living expenses continue to put a strain on people’s finances nationwide.
These programs, which range from retirement income to family support, are intended to make daily costs a little easier for Canadians. In addition to monthly benefits like Old Age Security and the Canada Child Benefit, CRA Benefits Increase April 2025 also includes a few quarterly programs like the GST/HST Credit and the Canada Carbon Rebate, which is the last installment following the repeal of the consumer carbon tax.
CRA Benefits Increase April 2025
You can find out who will get CRA payments and other government benefits in April 2025, how much you could get, and when you can expect them to arrive.
GST/HST Credit
To assist Canadians with lower incomes in managing the increased cost of goods and services, the GST/HST Credit is a tax-free payment that is sent every three months. It is intended to partially offset the GST or HST you pay during the year; however, it may contain additional funds from your province or territory, depending on where you reside.
This benefit does not need a separate application from you as CRA will automatically determine your eligibility as long as you file your taxes. Generally, to be eligible, you have to be at least 19. However, you could still be in if you are younger and live with a spouse, common-law partner, or child.
You can get up to $129.75 if you are a single parent without children or $170 if you are a couple or single parent, plus $44.75 for each child under the age of 19 in your home, for the most recent round, which is being distributed in 4 April 2025.

Ontario Trillium Benefit
In Ontario, the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) is a monthly payment that assists lower- and middle-income individuals in managing various household expenses, including as sales tax, property taxes, and energy bills. The CRA manages the payouts even if the provincial government provides funding.
You need to have submitted your 2023 income tax return in order to be eligible for the April 10 OTB payment. If you met the requirements, you have probably been receiving deposits on the tenth of every month since July 2024. You most likely received the entire amount in a lump sum last July rather than monthly installments, though, if your total yearly entitlement was $360 or less.
Canada Child Benefit
CRA provides parents and guardians with a tax-free monthly payment- Canada Child Benefit to assist them in meeting the daily expenses of raising children. You will get this payment on April 17, 2025 and it is intended to lessen the financial strain on families and offers additional assistance to individuals who are raising a disabled child. The maximum monthly benefits are presently $648.91 for each child under six and $547.50 for each child aged six to seventeen for families with 2023 incomes under $36,502.
Canada Carbon Rebate
The purpose of the quarterly tax-free Canada Carbon Rebate (CCR), formerly known as the Climate Action Incentive Payment, is to give Canadians their money back from the federal consumer carbon tax. But take note: this rebate will only be available until April 2025. The federal consumer carbon tax will no longer be paid by Canadians as of April 1, 2025, since Prime Minister Mark Carney has formally abolished it.
Additionally, the associated rebate is coming to a stop. Your eligibility and the amount of your refund are determined by your household composition and place of residence, rather than your income, as is the case with most other government payouts. For the last payment, CCR payments have been raised one last time. You will get this payment on April 22, 2025.
Canada Pension Plan
In order to partially replace the paychecks that Canadians received during their working years, the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) provides them with a monthly income once they retire. It is a consistent, lifetime benefit designed to provide some financial security in later life.
The Quebec Pension Plan (QPP) is a comparable scheme that operates in Quebec. You must have made at least 1 valid contribution while working in Canada and be at least 60 years old to get CPP Payment April 2025 Amount. Pension credits may also be divided between ex-partners in separation or divorce situations and you will get this payment on April 28, 2025.
Old Age Security
For Canadians 65 and older, OAS provides a monthly payment that provides additional financial assistance and you may be eligible for this government payment on April 28, 2025 if you fulfill the residence criteria, regardless of whether you are totally retired, currently employed, or have never held a formal job. You must have been in Canada for at least ten years after turning eighteen and be at least 65 to be eligible. Most individuals are enrolled automatically, but if you do not hear from Service Canada by the time you turn 64, it is a good idea to check and, if necessary, apply manually.
The maximum monthly OAS payout for adults 65 to 74 years old was $727.67 from January through March 2025, while for aged 75 and older, it was $800.44. The month after your 75th birthday, your payments automatically increase by 10%. Remember that OAS levels are reviewed every three months and modified as necessary to reflect inflation.
